Pics of my finished tank (very high res . . . sorry 56Kers)

Here is my partitioned 10" x 20" x 20" tank. On the left is a pair of vents and on the right is a k&c auratus. The lights are 6500K 27W compact flourscents and are keeping my moss, plants, and frogs very happy. Don't let anyone tell you that screw in compacts won't work! I save so much money going with 2 screw ins. Just use some aligator clips to lift the fixtures off the glass to keep the heat down. The substrate is aliflor (baked clay) and the back walls are tree fern panels, with some cork on the right. All I need now is a rain system and it will be complete.

Great setup!! I use the screw in compact flours as well and they are indeed cheap and effective. Where did you find the 6500K bulbs? All I've been able to locate are the 5000K bulbs. What brnad are they? Thanks and keep it up!!

I use screw in compaact fluorescents on my vent vivarium as well. They are 6500K, and are made by the All Glass Aquarium Company. I beleive they are around 11 watts, so the equivalent amount of light to like a 55 watt incandescwent. I actually have two bulbs running, and heat is not an issue. They work fabulously, the moss is doing well, the broms have pupped lke crazy, and the fittonia has filled the tank from a few small sprigs. I highly recommend them.

Very cool, can you post some info on the bulbs? I have been looking around at them online, and getting some ideas.

Home Depot sells a screw in daylight compact fluorescent made by Commercial Electric for $7.99. We use these for odds and ends tanks that aren't under the shop lights and put out excellent light.

The light actually brought out more red and every brom has pupped! If you are on a budget, this is the way to go!
