eye infections

willis1234 Jan 12, 2004 11:11 PM

My female beardie just layed 22 eggs and now has gunk all in her eyes. Sometimes so badly that she cant open then. I have already gone to a vet and they think it is because she is so dehydrated from laying eggs. I was wondering if anyone knew of anything around the house I can put into her eyes to help her out a bit. Thanks for any help.

Saline solution that you can get at the drug store in the section where contact lense supplies are. I don't know of anything just around the house unless you have some of that around!

Could have gotten sand in her eyes when laying the eggs also.. a good rinse with saline as already suggested would probably be good. I'd also make sure she gets plenty of water if a vet said she looked dehydrated (though I've never heard of dehydration causing "gunk in the eyes"... maybe use an oral syringe to give her some extra water.
