i've been on vacation, so my snake hasn't eaten in a while, but today i finally got him a mouse (its been 2 weeks now since he's eaten). anyways usually i put him in a different box when feeding. But today i couldn't even open the top of the cage without him coming out and snapping at my hand !!!! i finally decided to dangle the mouse in the cage with tongs, however he showed no interest !! isnt that strange ???? now whenevr i move my hand towards the top to open the lid, he comes out to bite!

My female BP is quite spooked by everything, and will even nip at my hand when I handle her.
Last week, I was trying to feed her a f/t mouse, and instead of attacking it to eat it, she bit at it defensively and quickly balled up. So I backed off for a few minutes, returned, and dragged the mouse along the newspaper substrate a few inches away from her, making sure that the claws scratched along the cage floor. She immediately perked up, recognized it as a prey item and not a threat to her, and ate it within minutes.
I guess that the key in getting skittish BPs to feed, is to make them realize that it isn't a threat, it is a treat!
