My friend's boyfriend left the top of her young ball python's tank slightly open, and of course the little Beguira esaped into their dorm room. I frantically searched through forums for the best advice I could give her to find him - leaving out heating pads, water dishes, toweling up the crevices under the doors so he can't get out of the room itself, etc. They ransacked their room 2 or 3 times to no avail, so with a sad heart we left for our month-long winter break, expecting the worst when we returned. Luckily there was no foul odor awaiting us, but there was no Beguira either. We finally gave up hope, when tonight they found him! After a month and a half! The roommate also has a ball python that doesn't normally stay in their room, but since it was visiting, she had set out her temp. home for him in the closet next to Beguira's, and while we had Sherlock out (the roommie's snake) Beguira made himself a nest in Sherloks' home!
He looks alright, very alert and active, and in the middle of a shed. We've been soaking him and tomorrow they will feed him.
Are there any symptoms we need to check for of extreme dehydration or any other problem to look for in lost and found snakes? Should we go ahead and give him two small mice or start him off slowly with only one?
I'm so excited that we found him, but I have to remember what to do to make sure he gets nursed back to good health!
