Sorry, price question

mrbfrog Jan 13, 2004 12:45 AM

I am sorry to ask baout this, What is the low end price for one of these snakes what is average and what dose a high end snake coast.

I am asking because I am useing a pretty slow dialup, a lot of the breeder sites have a lot of imagas, it is really takeing me a lot of time to look throught the different sites, and I dont know if they are good sites anyway because I have just recently become interested in Aboreal snakes.

I am interested in an aboreal snake and i am wondering how the GTP's are for a first time aboreal snake. What are some differnt ones that people would suggest?

Also where is a good place that I can find some good caresheets for different aboreal snakes, and some information on sizes and temperments.

I really appreacheate as much information as you could give.

Thanks very much

Prices can vary quite a bit. For import or farm bred, you'll see prices range from $250 up to $650 ea. Quality can vary with these also.....it's luck of the draw. For captive bred prices can start at $350-375 for the low end, $400-700 for the average, and up to $5000 for high end animals.

Most keepers will say to avoid GTPs for a first time aboreal, but with the right reading material and dedication, success is easily achieved. Just be sure to read as much as you can before jumping into anything. A good place to start is Greg Maxwell's website. You can find everything you need to know about chondros there. If you aren't ready for the financial and technical obligation of chondros, jungle carpet pythons make a great first aboreal python. They require similar care, but are usually more forgiving of temp. and humidity fluctuations........not to mention they are easier on the pocket book too.

There are several websites dedicated to keeping chondros and aboreal pythons. Just go to google and do a search, and it should take you to several sites with some of the most in depth info you'll find.

Good luck with the search. Chondros aren't as bad as most people make them out to be. They are actually fairly easy captives once established and are a joy to care for. These snakes have a lot of personality. They're like children in a way, and I love my kids.
