Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of or might recommend any books on kingsnakes and their natural history. Thank you.

Hello,
I was wondering if anyone knew of or might recommend any books on kingsnakes and their natural history. Thank you.
Tom
The Handbook of Snakes by Wright and Wright
Its a older book and I know it was reprinted. It's 2 volumes. Some of the info is a bit dated but still it has great descriptions etc...
Snakes of North America by Tenant and Bartlett
Has lots of good info with nice pics and good species descriptions. Nothing as far as care.
Common Kingsnakes by David Perlowin
This book is more on care/breeding and is pretty light on natural history. It has some nice color pics as well.
Kingsnakes and Milksnakes by RD Bartlett
This book is on par with the Perlowin book but is a little thinned out due to including Milksnakes and Tri color Kings as well.
Snakes and Snake Hunting by Carl Kauffeld
I always suggest this book as it is one of my favorite books of the 100's of Herp books I own. Its full of anecdotes of past snake hunting trips all ove the US in the 20's 30's and 40's. Its a good read no matter how you slice it. It was reprinted by Krieger publishing a few years back but originals can still be found if you sniff around
I could go on but these are a good start.
Keith
