OH NOOO!!

cito Jan 13, 2004 11:42 AM

My burm's setup was perfact with the new cage and heating and thermostat etc. And today, my dad was in my room and knocked over a glass of water from my desk and it splashed onto the thermostat. It started buzzing and making threatening explosion sounds and the lights were flickering. I them tilted it at an angle, and you can see on those little green computer chips where the water was, the water then fried and the green circuit thing is fried. So the thermostat is now terminated. Meanwhile I dont know what to do with my burm temps. None of the pet stores around her have thermostats and I ordered another one from big apple today at 7:00 for next day air. So it should get here within the next to days but until then I dont know what to do! I have heat pads and heat lamps available, with the heat lamp and one heat pad on, the hot spot got to 120 degrees. Obviously that didnt work so I took out the heat pad and now with just the heat lamp, its only getting up to about 87 at the hot spot. I dont know what to do. And to make things worse, she just ate a medium rat yesterday so she has a huge belly which needs digestion. Any suggestions?

Hey,
I wouldn't worry your head off, it is going to be just fine with the temperatures in the upper 80's. They are alot more resilient than we give them credit for. It would take a lot more than that to send one into a spiral and end up with R.I.

You'll have your thermostat tomorrow and all will be good again. Best of luck, and keep dad away from the controller or make that a drink free zone.
