Pentagon Aquarium

brokermonkey Jan 13, 2004 01:47 PM

hi, i spoke to this guy at an aquarium store...and he was saying that i should think about a 95 gallon pentagon aquarium for my female RES because the rectangular aquariums are a little difficult for RES to manuever in if they are large. does that make sense?

the tank is glass. the guy said that they call it a turtle tank because they'll set it up for you for your turtle. the 95 gallon tank ALONE (no stand or canopy) is $258, plus i'd buy a fluval 404 canister for $200 (but i'd buy it online), and a pump for $150 and then every two weeks, i can have someone come to clean it out and do the water change for $65 per visit. the guy seemed like he knew what he was talking about.

FYI: I went to www.bigalsonline.com and bought the Fluval 404 for $90 plus shipping.

The only difficulty an adult RES will have with a rectangular aquarium is if its a 10 gallon.

It really depends on the dimensions of the tank. If it is very tall, it is no good for res, because they like to swim side to side, not just up and down. But, if it is more of a round shape, it is good for res, because they get the benefit of having more usable swimming space, and its easier for the turtle to turn around.
