Where might be Davenport in relation to larger cities in your area? At what elevation did you spot the Rubber Boa and can you describe the general type of habitat in the area where you observed it. Thanks

Sorry about the previous post, I was in a hurry and didn't have time for details!! lol. I was about 80 ft above sea level, on top of a cliff edge, He was on a small trail, near some railroad tracks. The dirt was very hard but it chipped away into a very fine sand. The snake was a hatchling still showing an umbillical (sp?) scar. You can email me for more details if you like. turkeybags@earthlink.net

I also went out road spotting last night, not much to report, some of the same snakes from the night before, and one live and well juvie gopher snake in the middle of the road..

Also, Davenport (population 200) is about 15 miles outside of Santa Cruz, north on Hwy 1, or at the end of Hwy 9 out of Saratoga, just north of Bonny Doon (another tiny town).

Thanks.
What did not compute was that Tracy is considerably inland and the nearest boa habitat in probably in the East Bay area of Alameda and Contra Costa Counties. Thus, I was curious if there was boa habitat near Tracy of which I was not aware.

Observing the boa the prior day in Santa Cruz County is now very understandable.

Thanks again for the clarification.
