How Can I Tell If My Female Mali Is Pregnant. I Introduced the Male To The Cage On Sunday Jan 4 And They seem to be getting along well is there any chance they may have bred already and if so what should i put in the tank for her to lay her eggs in.
Also she is about 8 inches (she has a stubbed tail) and she weighs about 100 grams but she seems to be eating a little more sience i put the male in the cage.

Hello,

Just thought I'd point out that 'pregnant' is a mammalian term. 'Gravid' is the term used for reptiles.

I doubt that your Mali is old enough to breed being only 8" long. For a gravid Uro, you need somewhere in the viv with a deep layer of damp (not wet)burrowing substrate. This can be accessable (to the Uros) through a tube. This must be put in the viv a long time before the Uro is ready to lay, so that they can become used to it, and the female realises it to be a good place to lay.

Hugh

Well, I think it is very easy to tell if a female is gravid. you will see lumps on her sides formed by the eggs, and she will dig like crazy. Also, the females tail also starts to get a little thin when she is gravid. There might be some scars on her back or neck from breeding. My female is already gravid. She is gravid early because i brumated her very early. They were done brumating over a month ago, and now the female has been showing lots of signs of being gravid such as, tail thinning, scares on back, and i am starting to see her get fat, and i can just start to see the outline of the eggs. I Think that she will lay within 2-3 weeks. Also, If your female starts digging like crazy that means that she is going to lay her eggs ver soon. My female started to dig crazy 3 days before she laid her eggs. i dont think your female is gravid this early unless you brumated them early like me, but if she is gravid good luck.
