Help with ADFs!

ribbitt Jan 13, 2004 03:21 PM

I have 2 ADF frogs...they're little guys, not grown yet, but I dont think one of them is eating! They are the same age, but one is more dominant. He always eats and even smells out the food and digs for it and is always plump, but the other one just keeps getting skinny and i know these frogs are known to starve themselves! Even when i drop pellets right on his head he wont even snap at them.....is there anything I can do?

I have the same problen with my frogs. One of them is not eating. I know for a fact the other is eating. They wait a long time before eating though. Usually the fish eat all the food before they get a shot at it. Try frozen blood worms, they liked those better than the pellets.

Try some tiny pieces of chicken liver (raw) they usually can't resist this! But reove any uneaten pieces as it will cloud the water quickly.

Thanks guys! I live in a dorm so it may be a bit difficult to aquire a chicken liver, but I'll certainly try. P.S. there are no fish in my tank...just the 2 frogs.

My adf snappes up live bloodworms the second they hit the water. you should try getting some of those.

personally, i have given mine sinking frog food or sinking pellets, then the food sinks down to them and the fish don't eat it all. one thing i've started doing recently is, right after i put food in, i put it in one area for the fish, then i take a turkey baster, and as i suck in water i suck in the food, then i put it RIGHT IN FRONT OF THE FROG which doesnt eat as much and watch him eat so that I know he's getting enough. I have also read to take them out of the tank and put them in a little holding tank to feed so they can get food. ALSO, I've read online stories of people who do things like, put food in a glass jar, and float the jar down to the bottom of the aquarium, and their frogs have learned to go into the jar to eat and the fish haven't figured it out yet.
