flpsk8119 Jan 13, 2004 04:34 PM

I have a 2 foot black throat that i got about a month ago. He is pretty good except that he has had a few problems which i belive to be diet related. He isn't as fat as he should be. I can still feel bones right near the start of his tail and his legs arent that fat at all. I have been feeding him one mouse every day. He doesnt always take it but he usualy does. how much should he be eating, and how often.
Thanx for any help.

you didn't really provide any details, so i will guess that the animal is a recently acquired import. a great caresheet should be your first step, and implementing it your second. that is something you can start on TODAY, and you can find lots of monitor info in our caresheet and FAQ sections at our site, there is a link below.

next would be a vet visit for a checkup and fecal. if you have a problem with parasites (also guessing you do), which affect weight gain and appetite, among other things, they won't go away on their own, and you will need to start a deworming cycle.

those important steps will provide a base to build from, and after that, a great setup and ideal husbandry should be your next goals.

best of luck.
