For a snake as wide ranging and with regional variations of venom as the Russells Viper has, how would you select the right antivenom? How difficult is it to acquire the antivenom and what is the price range for it?
Thanks,
Dan

The Thai Red Cross antivenom is the most readily available and probably consistent. My recommendation would be to get the antivenom and then get snakes that are as geographically close as possible. There is a tremendous variation in venom profile within Daboia russelli, with all causing devastating effects. They are nutcase snakes but absolutely fascinating.

Mark O'Shea did a show where he was searching for D.russelli in Sri Lanka, because the sri lankan race's venom is not combatted well by the Indian made anti-venom, which is made from the Indian russell viper's venom...the indian antivenom could actually complicate a bite from a Sri-lankan russells viper.
