Temp probe placement for melamine rack

ghettozoohouse Jan 13, 2004 06:09 PM

I've got a melamine rack and a ranco thermostat. The rack has no openings other than the front were the tubs slide in. I guess like most melamine racks.
Anyhow where do I put the temp probe?
In a tub?
On the heat tape?
On the shelf outside the tub but not on the heat tape?
Too many options too little time.

Hello there I do not know if you found your answer yet but here is what I do I run my probe into the drawer opening to the back of the box I have belly heat by the way I have 3/8 inch holes drilled all the way around the top of my tubs my helix probe fits perfectly through the hole and then I tape it to the inside and the out side of the box and tape the probe directly over the hot spot this will give you the most acurate reading I also have a thermometer taped to the same place sort of a precaution just to make sure my helix is always accurite it is a 12.00 one from walmart with the outside probe and this way works great you can also opt to drill little holes and use bread ties instead of the tape your choice but tape is easier well I hop this helps Paul
