I posted a message that you replied to about an hour ago. It is pretty much the same thing im just giving you a little more info so maybe you can get a better idea of what is wrong. His temps are pretty good. Bsking: 130 regular cage temp 90-100 and the cool end is in the 80's. his eating is not consistent. EX: if i drop a mouse in some times he will eat it but sometimes he will just ignore it. He is not a new import but he was in a cage with some imported savs. Maybe he could have picked up a parasite from one if thats the case. He also sleeps alot during the day.
i hope this helps you a little. if you could reply back that would be great but if not than thanx for your help.

everything in that post would still apply then. it certainly sounds like a husbandry and parasite problem...

"His temps are pretty good. Bsking: 130 regular cage temp 90-100 and the cool end is in the 80's."

Those are good temps for a dehydrater, but not a cage. He must have the option of warming up fast or slow and cooling down to where he can sleep relax relieve stress, such as a cool end thats around room temps (68 or so), he must have enough space in the 130 degree basking spot to heat his whole body evenly yet relax in a broad range of temps when he wants to. The air temps in the area of the 130 degree basking spot should be around 84-86 f, the cool end should be no where near 80 f. The cage you are using what is it? does it have an open screen top or open on a side with only some ventilation? How big is the cage?
I ask these things because the animal is 2 ft long therefore he should be in what a 4-6ft cage for now. If you have an aquarium with a screen top you are dehydrating your monitor into jerky unless you make a top from another material that preserves moisture and heat.

No doubt a good petstore hmmm, he could be an import of almost any age if kept improperly he would stay small. Keepin ghim with other species can be dangerous to them as bosc are a food source in areas where they both live, they are far different species of animal.

Parasites dont affect an animals health by causing them to be lethargic, hiding and sleeping all of the time. Improper husbandry is the big culprit. A sucessful parasite does not harm a host, they need the host to survive.
