Mt. Horned Dragon

skits Jan 13, 2004 06:43 PM

Hi, this may not be the right forum, i just saw horned lizards and thought i'd give it a shot. Does anyone know anything about these lizards? I just got one today from a petstore, it seemed kinda skinny, so i fed it 5 crickets it ate right away. Its still a little guy, just wondering if anyone can give me some info or tell me if this is the right forum. Thank you, will post pic after reply.

The kind of lizard you are talking about is a Mt. horned dragon, and is not a horned lizard (phrynosoma), although it may look somewhat similar to an HL. You might want to try another forum for this kind of lizard. Here is an ok care sheet for the MHD www.repticzone.com/caresheets/53.html

if i'm not mistaken, they fall into the iguana family. if he looks "skinny," don't panic...it may just be time to eat. if he looks emaciated and sickly, then there're problems.
i've never had one, but i believe that they like to have plenty of rocks and such to climb on.
