got new tank all set up, but problem w/ heating

hi, went buy a 50 gallon reptile tank today, and i have a dome light w/ a 100watt repti-glo spotlight basking bulb in it but i can only get my temps up to 83.2 degrees, what should i do, it has a screen top and the lamp is sitting on that, maybe make the basking site higher? let me know, thanx for the input

Well you could buy a 150 watt Repti dome light. I have a 250 gallon tank and i have 2 150 watt domes and you must have slate rock or some kind of rock that will absorb heat.

Sorry forgot to tell you my basking area is about 130-137 degrees.

thanx for the info, i got the heat up to 100 by lifting the basking rock, but i think it needs to get hotter, i guess i need to get a bigger bulb, keep the input coming, thanx

I use a 150-watt tight-beam basking light and a 100-watt red heat light to bring the temps up to where I want them. It works pretty well.
