He hates his bath!

artsykitten Jun 05, 2003 04:38 PM

Lol... I gave Pharoah another bath today, but he just hates it! He just sits in there all puffed up and not moving,or he tries his hardest to climb up the sides of the bathtub. I always see pics of so many beardies who just love their baths. my question is, if they dont like it right away, will they ever like it? like will it take some getting used to before they decide the enjoy it? Just wondering. because i would really like for him to like taking a bath

she's better than she used to be. On the other hand, Pip (short for pipsqueak), who is only 3 months old, LOVES taking a bath! So, I guess it just depends on the dragon. You know, they're all different with their own likes and dislikes and personalities!

Every dragon is different All of my dragons differ in likes and dislikes, and bath time is definitely a subject that they could start a big debate on if they could speak english. Some love them, some like them, some tolerate them, some hate them!lol

They all seem to have one common factor with bath time. They like to poo in the bath! Nasty little kids!LOL

lol, Thanks! Yeah I figured each beardie has their own likes and dislikes. Pharoah never seems to want to poop in the bath (i usually leave him in there watching him for about 5 mins or so) but usually immediately after i take him out he poops in his cage. :P

Why give them baths if they don't like them? It is unecesary for the most part. to water them go out and buy a spray bottle. Spray them on the nose. This is how i water my dragons. Why stress them out? Stress is what leads to most dragon health problems. Just my opinion.

The ONLY reasons I bath mine are to clean them after they had too much fun making poop art all over their cage and body, they havent pooped for a period of time and its making me nervous, to hydrate and help a gravid female lay eggs, to help a dragon who is having a hard time shedding and spraying isnt working, or for those that like their baths I give the baths for fun. I do not however make those dragons who dont like baths take baths just for the fun of it. I mean there is no point or pleasure in making a kicking/splashing dragon bath, at least not for me. I am almost certain that most people on here have a reason for bathing their dragon and no one would do it intentionally to stress them out. Just my thoughts. Take care, Lindsay

or pool. Some really enjoy their pool time and they get such great exercise. I've been sick with the flu for two weeks so they have not got out in the sun in their pools, and its been pitiful to watch them try to swim in a small plastic tub of water

In the wild dragons are often seen swimming in ditches and lakes, one of their favorite foods are small fish near the shore line and turtles.

I have found that for us, the girls like the water much more than the boys, only one of our boys loves to swim, where all the girls enjoy it. And with the amount their drink in the pool, I could never quench their thirst with misting. I do mist them a few times a day, but they still love going in thier pools

I understand letting ones that like to swim swim, but if they don't like it why bother when it is unecesary was my point.

I wanted to try getting him to like baths because it seems like he poops better after a bath. he will go a few days without pooping so i'll run him a bath, and even though he doesnt like it, he poops right after i take him out. and i do normally spray him down every day anyways. but im not just doing this for fun or anything. i only bathe him when he hasnt pooped.
