well i was fooling around with the digi cam today when i got home from school and didnt think any of the pics came out good but this one was the only one that came out good. tell me what you think..

also ill have to see if i have a pic of this but. my male iggs bottom jaw is a tad longer than the top. and i was just wondering if that could be a problem. he does not show any signs of MBD. or anything and he gets his calcium everyday. and the vet looked at him and said he was MBD free but it is kinda bothering me.

your iguana is cool looking!!!!! i lik him......is it just me or does he have a little orange in him? dont they turn different colors during breeding seaon? well either way your ig is very cool! u can tell he is a male-his jowls and subtympanic sheilds are huge! lol.....as for the jaw thing it is prolly nothing......i have heard of it happening be4. me cousins has kind of an overbit and it is fine as well-i wouldn't worry about it.

I remember reading something about that somewhere. I think it was from mbd. I know he's mbd free now, but could he have had it in the past and got over it. Or I've also seen igs. with so badly damaged noses from trying to get out of their cages it looked like they were missing part of their nose. Maybe he wasn't a happy Ig growing up. Maybe from fights from being housed with other Igs. At least he's safe and happy now though. He is really awesome.

Basically what you are seeing is the remains of either an old injury or more probably MBD. Iguanas can recover from MBD (and if he came from a good rescue, they healed him before adopting him out) but still show signs. Jaw, digit, tail and spinal deformities are the most common. If vet checked the blood, and it came out fine, it is just a sign of the former life the guy had. My rent-an-iguana has it as well. His blood numbers are perfect.
