Looking for Pics and info on Indonesian Whites

Lyn Jan 13, 2004 09:00 PM

I have been on the hunt for a Blue Phase Australian White's with no luck so far. I did come across a very large Green White's for sale at a local pet store. Due to the size and rather dull green color I'm guessing it's an Indonesian. It is alert and seems healthy. I'm going back to look at it on Saturday. Was wondering if anyone here had an Indonesian. If so, do you have any photos? Are the Indonesians any different than the Australians as far as care?

No, there is no difference in care between the two. I've attached two pictures in this post, one from my "true blue" froglet, one from my turq. phase adult which is a direct Indo-Aussie cross. Dont let his picture fool you, he is not a true blue. I've got a pure Indo as well, but no current pictures. Now the froglet was a true blue phase, as it was blue from morph on up. It wasnt green that turned blue at night, it wasnt green that looked blue in certain lighting, but electric blue at all times(except it was a darker color at night and when too cool). True blues are hard to come by in the pet trade, there are too many people breeding thier pet Whites for the hell of it and murking up the color lines.

You said you have a Indo/Aussie cross which begs a question. I have no plans to breed, am only interested in pets, but you (or whoever bred them) must have had them together. I was thinking if I got the Indo now, and found my blue Aussie later, that I'd need two enclosures permanently. Could an adult Indo and an adult Aussie cohabitate? If so, what would the minimum tank size be? I was going with a 30 high but maybe that's too small. Or would it just be better to keep them separate forever, I'd have to set up seperate tanks at first anyway due to quarantine so that would not be a big deal to just keep them apart.

Very nice pics, beautiful frogs. Do you ship your true blue babies? It's too cold now (I live in NY) but in spring?

The big frog at the store looked the same color as the head of the Indo frog you posted. Had a few white dots. I don't think it had such rollie pollie cheeks though? Does that mean it's not healthy? Are those fat reserves?

If the frog was imported would I need to do anything special with it, any type of de-worming?

OK, I guess I had more than one question (sorry)

Last question... They have a really nice normal colored White's there that was a ladies pet. She brought it in two weeks ago, I'm not sure why. He has a sore on the top of his head, round and pink. Has another sore right at the inside edge of it's eye, looks more red, and a blister above the eye that looks fluid filled. I feel bad for it, but didn't want to take it and not know how to care for it. What type of treatment should that frog be getting? Do sores like that heal well or is it hard for frogs to recover from wounds? They want $26 for it and aren't doing anything treatment wise at the moment. Will it die if it is left untreated? He's pudgy and very sweet.

I think Kingsnake links to my new email address. My website is www.LynsLair.com and you can email me at Lyn@LynsLair.com

I almost went and picked up the frog today but the weather is horrible, blowing snow and very slippery roads. Also I could have only gotten the one healthy one, not the sick one since I only have one tank set up. I'll wait for your email. Thanks in advance for the help!
