Not really a herp....

But seen on the same herping trip as the brown snake below! This guy was so tame I took some amazingly close photos of him.

I love my camera. I have an Olympus Camedia C-3020 Zoom. It's starting to get a little tempermental, but it's a couple of years old and has had some hard use. I'm looking forward to getting a new Olympus soon. I'm sold on these for digital.

I am going to dust off my old Minolta 35mm "analog" and get back to basics as well. I've just gotten terribly lazy with digital, and spoiled with the instant gratification.

Every armidillo I've ever seen was just a blur. Got any more shots of it? Thanks for sharing-Brett

Sure do!

Here he/she is burrowing in the leaf litter for food. There were tons of them in this area. It was fascinating to see such an interesting critter up close.

This is the last best shot I got. I didn't want to scare it off - he/she was being so kind in letting me get so close.

Most of the armadillos we saw were pretty shy, but for some reason this one wasn't at all. I'm sure they get used to people walking the trails.

It is always so much cooler to see animals in their natural habitats, doing their natural behaviors, than at a zoo I think.
