Screw-In 6500k Compact Fluorescents... (here you go kyle)

Double J Jan 13, 2004 10:58 PM

Hello....
I just thought I'd post a link to the all-glass aquarium company's website. The 6500k screw-in compacts work great.... Moss grew well, broms pupped, and fittonia overtook a vivarium with two of these puppies in action. The heat production was minimal, and they fit well into those cheap incandescent hoods for fishtanks....
I will post a link to the product profile below...

To find the bulbs I am talking about... click on the link on the all-glass site that says "mini-compact bulb" and it will take you to the desired page.

Thanks I found a couple links last night with a few, found some at 15W,6500k,900lumens, and then some at 20 or23W 6500k, 1200lumens.

I might try them for the heck of it. The way I see it they put out more light than my fluorescents, as they are about 500lumens at 5000k. Now the CRI is a little lower on the compacts at about 84 I think.

I may order some, I will post a some links later, as they are on my other computer. Brand was sunlite, and they come in 15, 20, 23, 27, watts I think.

I catually live in Canada.... and I work for a reptile dealer called Global Exotic Pets... I bought the bulbs from work. My boss retails them for $17.99, but that is ijn Canadian funds of course. I'll leave a link to the company website... email my boss and he will get back to you. I'll talk to him, so it shouldn't be a problem to ship to the US.
There is a lnk to the website below... and if you look in the amphibians section, scroll down to the bottom and you will see a pic of my vent vivarium...
