Help My Whites seems sick

swim_r Jan 13, 2004 11:20 PM

My whites tree frog seems sick, He hasnt been normal the past few days, he had turned a darker color than he normaly is a few days ago, but I didnt think anything of it because he durns dark every once and a while, but turns back bright green again, well he has been dark for about three days now, and he is now more purple than brown and he isnt moving very much and doesnt appear to be eating. I have him in a 20gallon high tank with a big plant branches to climb on and places to hide, and a 3inch by 3 inch water dish, he has a good habitat and has been doing well in it since the end of the summer, someone please help.

If it may be nothing than why waste your money on a vet visit? Not everyone is rich y'know... Personally I would just wait it out and see what happens - a vet visit on an animal of this size would either be very helpful or a waste of time and money...

Well, it's just one of those things that people who actually care about the well-being of their captives do. If you will ever hesitate to seek a veterinarians care for your animals, then you should reconsider your choice to own anything with a pulse.

I love my animals and I love caring for them and would not wish anything bad upon them, but as I have said - some people just don't have money to go spend on things that may not work... All I am saying is that you should be sure you need a vets help before you go and spend money.

Thank you all, He seemed better yesterday, and he was hoping around and ate a cricket, and then this morning I found him belly up. I guess having a purpleish brown color is something to watch your frog about, I have not seen anything in all the hours of reasearch that I have done on whites that turn brown....
thanks anyway everyone

it is always better to be safe than sorry, dont u think?? sometimes waiting for more severe symtoms can be to late, amphibian diseases are usually very rapid in killing frogs. i am not rich!! instead i have set aside some money in which if need be, i can see a vet ASAP with no hesitation.
