For all of you redtail lovers out there (including me!) these beauties have been courting and now breeding for about a month.. This pic was taken late last year... sorry I couldn't put them in a jungle for this photo!

I get stabbed in the back at times and am usually the last one to pay compliments, but those are the " real deal " Gus! Those are the " Suriname characteristics " that I remember when I was a kid. Truly classic in every way! I will pay you a compliment in saying; " The very FEW guys like you that are left in this business will be around for a long time. " You care about locality and the beauty of originallity, instead of all this; " thin saddles and clean bodies MAKE the animal. " I am sticking to my aboreals now, but if I ever got back into boas, I can honestly say that; " I would aquire all of my stock from you! " Keep up the good work and take this for what it is worth; " Beware of the company you keep! "..........John from: " TENNESSEE "

Well, thanks for all of that, there's not much I can say about most of your note without getting a few people riled.... but I will comment on the animals.

I think you are right about the way the Surinames have sort of evolved in captive colonies away from what many of us saw when we were first in the hobby. Some of that is captive breeding or selective breeding but a lot of it is import patterns. I'm in agreement with you about this pair, they also remind me of the better suriname boas we used to see in the 70s and into the 80s.

Animals like these with the big rolling tail saddles, good contrast and lots of color are what gave the group the reputation of having the best red tails and started the cult..

Be safe!
