I wish you the best of luck. I did not have much help last year when I went to New Mexico. Nobody would really give much help to localities of herps. I did go out for several nights in july and it was very hot... Not much moving.. as a matter of fact, I dont remember seeing one snake while I was visiting Santa Fe.
I do know that outside of Albuquerque in the county you can find New Mexican Milksnakes. I remember seeing it several years ago on a post. Southern new mexico you can also find Lepidus, and New Mexican Mountain Kings.

Take Care,

Steven O.

They live near the White Sands area. I'm not sure on their e-mail addresses, but if you look on another site, you might find them. The Organ Mountains which are right next to Las Cruces has some cool snakes: klauberi, subocs, molossus, lyre snakes, etc. Try going to Aguirre Springs, there are snakes there...

Thanks everyone who replied...I am just looking to take some cool pics of any/all snakes and lizards I can find....if there is anyone on here who would be willing to meet up with me and go herping, that would be awesome! I will be in NM from June 26th-July 1st. Thanks!
