Rocky is moving around at night time!

rockysnake Jan 14, 2004 09:10 AM

Hey,

My snake, Rocky, only seems to move around at night time. It looks like he is constantly trying to escape from the cage or something. Should I be worried or is this just a natural thing since for the most part they don't move much until the night? Is he bored maybe?

Thanks ya'll

Ball pythons are generally nocturnal. They come out a night because they feel safe moving around in the dark when they can’t be seen. Most likely he is looking for food, a way out of his cage, and a girlfriend (but not necessarily in that order).

I don't think that snakes have a concept of boredom the same way people do.

Hope this helps

That’s what BP's do, sounds like normal behavior.

They are escape artists, so if your tank has any vulnerability, with time rocky will find it.

The funny thing is, with the few break outs I’ve had, they never went more that five feet away. Seems kind of fruitless, but I’m not locked in a tank 24-7, so I guess freedom is freedom to them.

BPs are nocturnal so they should move around at night. My snake Smo'ore always looks like she is trying to get out but i think that she is just trying to explore knew hieghts
