Gecko not eating

dannieleos2002 Jan 14, 2004 09:27 AM

i have a male leo that ain't eating he hasn't ate in about 2 weeks. Hes about 3 years old, no weight loss, looks good and acts pretty normal. would it be okay to get him some plain yougurt or baby food with calicum in it, or both. so that he has calicum intake. my mom is really worried about him but all my leos have slowed on eating since its winter time. Hes on a diet of superworms along with all my other geckos. All food items are well gutloaded. i know that baby food isn't bad for leos sometimes i do baby food for ones whom don't want to eat until they will eat food items i give either crix or worms. Thanks for any responses

Hi Danielle. Is the male leo tanked with others, or alone? As your leo gets older, it will eat less frequently. I have 2 females in particular that won't come out right now but about once a week to feed due to her being in her "winter" period. If you are really that worried about it (which I wouldn't be if his tail is fat and he's active), then seperate him, up belly temps to about 90 degrees and let him alone for a few days, then try to add a couple of crix to see if he'll take them. It could be that he is "hibernating" as they do when it gets cooler.... don't worry about it yet, I think he's fine.
