Aries Update

jananicole66 Jan 14, 2004 10:28 AM

Well Aries had her vet appointment today. I must say she was weel behavied through it all, since she's no happy about being handled, especially by someone new and betting rubbed, light shined in her eyes, etc.
But he opened her eye with some saline solution, did a cornea dye test to make sure that the eye itself was okay, and it was. Just a fold on the lower lid so he said to get Polyspoin drops not the gel stuff) and apply it about 3-4 times a day for a few days. He said she looked great and is most likely a girl.. And she weighs 8 grams!! lol. And he asked what she ate and i said "gutloaded crickets, wiht vitamin powder" and he was "you gutload!! you are one of the few people i see who gutload their food!: hah
So I'm happy its nothing serious
Thanks to all who gave advice

Sounds like your leo is in good hands, glad you got that infection taken care of, an untreated eye infection can lead to death especially in a a young leo.

yea, he said she looked great, i dont think it was an infection, just an irritation to the lower lid.. because he just said to get polysporin liquid and he didnt need to prescribe any ointment wiht a steroid, like he normally does..
she was such a good girl

Polysporin is an antibiotic, used to treat bacterial infection. Steriods are contraindicated for infection, but useful for "just irritation". So it sounds like, if I am reading your post correctly, your vet felt there was an infection or potential for one to develop.
