Breeding question

Wizwise2000 Jan 14, 2004 11:20 AM

What would breeding an Amel to a Ghost, and an Amel to a Charcoal produce?

Thanks in advance.

Breeding an Amel to a Ghost = normals het amel, het aneryA, het hypo

Amel to a Charcoal = normals het amel, het aneryB

F1: Amel to a Ghost = normals het amel, het aneryA, het hypo

F2: normal het amel, anery A hypo X same = normal, Amel, snow, anery, hypo, and ghost with tons of possible hets for any of the above traits

F1: Amel to a Charcoal = normals het amel, het aneryB

F2: normal het amel, and anery B = normal, amels, anerys, blizzards, and tons of possible hets for any of the above traits

F1 is your current snakes
F2 is the second generation of offspring siblings breed together

>F2: normal het amel, anery A hypo X same = normal, Amel, snow, anery, hypo, and ghost with tons of possible hets for any of the above traits

Small correction to standard genetics terms:

P1: Amel to a Ghost --> F1 normals het amelanistic, het anerythristic, het hypomelanistic.

F1 normal het amel, het anery, het hypo X F1 same --> F2 normal, Amel, snow, anery, hypo, and ghost with tons of possible hets for any of the above traits

>F1: Amel to a Charcoal = normals het amel, het aneryB

>F2: normal het amel, and anery B = normal, amels, anerys, blizzards, and tons of possible hets for any of the above traits

Correction:

P1: Amel to a Charcoal --> F1 normals het amelanistic, het charcoal. (Anerythristic B is an obsolete name for charcoal.)

F1 normal het amel, het charcoal x F1 normal het amel, het charcoal --> normal, amelanistics, charcoals, blizzards (combination of amelanistic and charcoal), and tons of possible hets for any of the above mutants.

P1 generation are your current snakes (P means parental)
F1 generation are the babies of the P1 generation (F1 means first filial generation).
F2 generation are the babies of a pair of F1 snakes (brother x sister mating). (F2 means second filial generation).

Paul,

Thanks for the info. I have never heard P1 before, the rest of the morphs I just abreviated (sp) for times sake.

As far as charcoal, many breeders still call them Anery B. It is just a personal preference I believe. I do use the term charcoal most of the time, just used Anery B for this post.
