Updated shot of my ink

Mickey_TLK Jan 14, 2004 01:37 PM

Well sat for a couple of hours again monday, and got Brenda to take an updated shot today finally. The pic isnt the best, and its not a boa, but what can you do...lol.

A buddy told me that reptiles magazine is looking for herp tattoos so my artist is going to finish up as large an area as possible, to send a cropped shot in if nothing else. I have atleast one more sitting before the pics are due. Even if I dont get in reptiles, It kinda cool. Ive been wanting to see just how detailed he can get them, but he just wants to fill in the blank spots first, then do the detail. This helped me talk him into doing some detail early.

Here is the before, you can kinda see the Oustelets (top left) before the detail was added. It took almost an hour and a half for him to add the scales and highlights over the color he had allready done before.

as a fat old dude with curly long hair and a big zztop beard. Not sure WHY, but thanks for clearing that up.

If it werent for the fact that I can no longer drink any form of alchol, I would likely be the fat elvis, or jim morrison version of myself. However since I quit drinking 3 years ago, and had kidney surgery a year ago I lost 40 plus lbs. As for the zz top beard, I would but nature still has yet to give me the ability to grow a full beard...lmao

When I saw in Reptiles magazine that they were looking for tatoos, I immediately thought of you.

Frankly, I think that you shouldn't care if it's not totally finished by the time you need to send it in. It's awesome even the way it is now.

Mickey_TLK Jan 14, 2004 01:55 PM

Thanks for the compliment, however I do feel its not really fair to enter it half finished. But I dont see any problem with submitting just parts....lmao. Besides if I send pieceds at a time I could get my artists name mentioned in the magazine for years (jk)

In all seriousness I think we will try our best to get as much of the shoulder area done as possible. I would love to get atelast 3-5 finished animals in the picture, but time restraints will tell.

I found this pic, its a bit newer then the full body one. You can also see the oustelets a bit better. Also noticed the strawberry dart went from an outline to finished in one sitting (that actually took only a half an hour tops).

I will try and get Brenda to take a less fuzzy straight on shot of the close up again soon. Funny thing is, I was looking at a couple different pics she took with the most recent one, and I had moved my arm from my side to my shoulder. Well if you look at the pics, it seems the chameleon moved...LOL.

Also anyone know the date the pics need to be to reptiles in order to be eligidble? I think its feb sometime, not sure.

You know, I remember it when all the animals were empty/no color, and I even thought THAT was way cool!
it was like ghost or phantom reptiles... or some new style or something... all the backround and jungle filled in with these bold outlines of empty space.. I thought it was way cool!

Mickey you culd probably enter individual pics of EACH animal, and with its detail, you would have more chances to win, and I wouldn't be surprised if you do!

IF YOU HAVE IT SHOW IT. IF YOU OWN IT FLAUNT IT!!

I think you should send a pic of your whole back, with close ups of each animal or section as it's completed. That's really coming along nicely!!! Beautiful work.

As soon as I read about the contest, I thought 'Mickey can win that!'

Awesome tattoo, Mickey. It's coming along beautifully. You've got a great artist.
