You cannot reliably tell if an iguana is male or female based on size of femoral pores until it has reached sexual maturity, usually at least 2 years of age. You certainly cannot tell if your iguana is as small as 6-8" StV. If you see femoral pores bigger than 2mm with large waxy secretions, and the head is starting to show jowling, it is most likely male, but even then you could be wrong. Tempest is somewhere between 3 1/2 and 4 yrs of age as close as my vet and I can tell, 2.6kg, just over 13" StV, and based on his body size, condition, and growth over the last year, and we *think* he's male... even my vet, who deals only with reptiles (there are other vets in the clinic for fur n feathers), is not willing to say male for sure, or female for sure, for another year or two. You could take your ig to a vet and get it palpated and probed, but its a nasty thing to do to your ig.
