I NEED HELP!!!

LizardMan519 Jan 14, 2004 03:34 PM

Hi, I have a pair of Grandis Gaint day geckos. I have had my male for almost a year and I just introduced a young female about a week ago. I changed the tank around and put some new things in it. They were fine for about 3 days and today I was watching them and they hissed and bit at one another. I took the female out and put it into a smaller tank and then placed the smaller tank in the larger tank with the male. Is this O.K.. What should I do or how long should I keep them apart..

Thanks for your help....

Is the gecko's skin torn(I know day gecko's skin tears easiliy)
If it is torn I would wait for it to heal.Is the male trying to attack the female he can see?If he is not I would put her back soon. Are you sure you have a female and a male, not 2 males?

Questions: #1. Are you 100% positive of the sexes? 2. Is the enclosure ATLEAST the size of a 15 gal. glass aquarium (however should not be too large to re-establish territories)? 3. Is the smaller less than an inch smaller than the larger (if a life threatened)? 4. Willing to risk chance if one or both become very scarred; lost tails and ripped skin (will happen with breeding SOME anyways)?......If you answered yes, yes, yes, no; Clean enclosure and all furnishings well. Rearrange branches, plants, and such within the enclosure if possible. This will diminish firmly-held territories. Keep the enclosure at 72-75 degrees F for around two days with humidity at around 60%. Remember to keep a consistant day and night cycle. Observe their interaction from atleast 5 feet away (not right in their faces). If the problem persists, keep them separated and post again.

My tank is a 35 gallon and I am positive that they are both oppositte sexes because I bought the female the day after she laid eggs. The weird thing is that the smaller female (not by much) is attacking tha larger male. They did not rip any skin because I split them up a little while after fighting. And I already aranged the tank in 2 different ways, so there is no territory. So I should put them back soon.

But when I put them back together, If they still fight do I just let them go at it and leave them????
