Wild Bull won't eat

troyez70 Jan 14, 2004 03:37 PM

Back in October 2003 I was in southern Nebraska and I caught a 4' bull snake sunning himself on a gravel road. I wouldn't have caught him except for the fact that I saw several snakes that had been run over earlier that day. I brought him back to IL and set him up in a large enclosure (36 x 36 x 24) with a uv lamp, heat rock, water dish, attached hide box, etc. He was eating thawed adult mice for the first month and a half, but stopped eating several weeks ago. I offer mice all the time, but no go. He just shed last night, so I'm going to offer a mouse today. Maybe the snake is "confused" about his new surroundings having no freezing temperatures to induce hibernation. Or maybe he just needed to shed? Please write back and let me know what you all think. Troy

I agree Dan. But an added note. I would take the heat rock out. Accident waiting to happen.
