Most of my knowledge of tapeworms comes from mammals, including humans. There are some human tapeworms that don't need an intermediate host. I guess I was thinking of them.

But it is true that most tapeworm species do require an intermediate host. I had to check my books on that one. I need to re-read those books again, I guess. I'm rusty.
