Tragedy, my alligator, Godzilla died.

He died a week ago and I've been too upset to post. I noticed he didn't start eating as early this year as most. He also seemed more lethargic. We buried him with the intention of doing the skeleton in a few years. He was 11 ft and I had him 27 years. He will be greatly missed, we spent many a long hours together, he was my best bud.

You have my deepest sympathies - he must have been a magnificent beast. I can only imagine how I would feel if I were in the same shoes.

Really really sorry to here about this.
If I remember correctly he was your larger more "gentle" gator.
A terrible loss.
My sympathies.

Yes, Godzilla was dog tame. I'd sit in the cage and he'd come over and rest his head on my lap and I'd scratch his jowels, he loved it. My husband complained every now and then that I spent more time with the gator than I did him. I kept reminding him I had the gator first. Rodan my next larger one was never posessed with a good disposition

I ask because 27 is very young for a gator to die. I have several 53 year olds and they are still spry and have all their teeth and clear vision. (no apparent signs of advanced age) But even if your guy did die young I'm sure he had a good life and was well taken care of. What state are you in? Are you looking to get another?

The fastest way to achieve great wealth is by living more poorly for much longer.

No, I raised him from a baby. I still have gators of various sizes although none are as tame as he was. I know his diet was good, mostly whole chickens from the local chicken farm, fish and beef roasts. I just wish I knew what happened.
