Crypto Worries

With all this talk about Crypto, I am now very concerned...My first few geckos I inherited originally belonged to a good friend of mine. I have had these geckos for months and I now have many more. All new geckos went through their individual quarantine periods.

My friend had mentioned that about a year and a half ago he had a couple leos die in his colony that now belongs to me. These geckos died young, and after reading about this Crypto, I read the symptoms to him. The symptoms matched what these geckos died from. The reason this worries me is because several of the animals I have now in my colony had direct contact with the deceased leos when they were still alive a year and a half ago.

If those animals indeed died from Crypto, is there a possibility that I could be harboring carriers of the disease??? I have full intentions of getting a fecal check on these animals ASAP but any other information would be greatly appreciated.

it takes crypto about a month or two to incubate..so if you have had them longer then 3 months i wouldnt worry

What were exactly were the symptoms and what treatments did he try? Some bacterial infections will resemble crypto. This includes the symptoms, the deterioration, clear fecal results, and lack of response to certain medications. So unless your friend had a necropsy performed to confirm that crypto was the culprit, I wouldn't assume that it was what he dealt with.
