if i put a higher watt bulb in my dome lamp will it increase the temp??

Yes, provided it's the same general type of bulb (halogen, standard incadescent, etc.).
The relationship in not linear, though, so a 200 watt bulb is not twice as hot as a 100 watt bulb.
