HELLO EVERYONE JUST WONDER WHAT EVERYONE IS FEEDING THERE DARTS BESIDES FLIES, TERMITES AND BABY CRICKETS, HAS ANYONE EVER USED SILK WORMS OR ANYTHING ELSE
I have just started culturing flour beetles.. though you feed the frogs the larvae. They are nice little meaty treats. I have the odd indian mealmoth flitting around my house as well.. and when I find larvae I feed them to the frogs and they love them. I would culture them... but they are an agricultural pest and our flour and sugar would be infested if there were any escapees. Springtails are a good thing to introduce into your viv, and culture as well. Also, I have heard of people putting those little arthropods known as rolly pollies/sowbugs/pillbugs etc etc in their vivs... these are a great source of calcium from what I understand. Call me strange... but I love culturing the insects. But I guess all froggers are crazy in one way or another.

If you culture the grain moths in a large air tight container filled with dog food they seem to do well and there are not really any that get out and about. I've been culturing them for a few months. the key is to use a clear container like glass so you can pick through after the moths have died. Another trick i found is to put a scoup of the dog food(from the active culture) into a zip lock bag filled with air then sealed. shake it around a little bit then let it sit for a few hours. The lil wormies will crawl to the top of the bag and make little silk hang outs. This makes it easy to pick them out.
Thanks for the tips....what have the yields been like??
Double J
As Double J mentioned, springtails are a great supplemental food item. I've got a few cultures going since they don't require much maintenance. Double J also brought up a good point about the rollie pollies. I put about a dozen large ones into a couple of my vivs and every so often I see a TON of little rollie pollies all over the place. My tincs especially seem to love them. The rollie pollies do, however, tend to chew on fine-leaved plants, so watch out. Otherwise, they make a great additional food source for your frogs and they also help consume some of the decomposing material in your tank. Hope this helps.
