Baking rocks

I was going to head out to home depot and pick me up some slate pieces. I wanted to bake them before setting them up though, just in case. I was wondering how long, and at what temperature I should do this. Any input would be appreciated, thanks.

but watch out, they stay hot for a long time. It wouldn't be a bad idea to wash them first if there is any dirt on them.
