WTB: Rubbermaid 4636 in S. California

Iblis Jan 15, 2004 03:14 PM

I'm in Orange County, CA. Does anyone know where I can buy the Rubbermaid 4636?

Walmart, Home Depot, Bed Bath and Beyond, Container Store -- no one has them. Rubbermaid customer service is no help.

Thanks,

I live in Riverside County, and I have had the best luck finding tubs when I need them and at reasonable price at Target. Also I ~think~ If you go to Target Customer Service they will special order the specific tub you want if it is not on the shelf.

Are you building your own rack, or looking for boxes to fit into a pre-made rack?

If your building your own, check out the sterilites too. They are generally less expensive, and sizes are VERY close. The Rubbermaid 4636 is 131/4" long x 8 1/4" wide x 4 1/8" tall, while the Sterilite 1952 4 qt is 13 1/2"L x 8"W x 4"H.

Thanks for the tips. These are for a professionally built rack. What I've found is that the model I need is an exclusive Walmart product--and they were out when I was looking. So I'll try Walmart again. Fun.

I'm actually using Sterilite now (with the lids on a heated shelf), and find I don't like them much. The model I have at least has too many nooks and crannies--makes them harder to clean.

I do like the Iris tubs at Office Depot. Any thoughts on those? Once I get things sorted out with this rack I'd like to make one myself for larger animals. Will probably use Iris tubs unless there's a good reason not to.

I've never used Iris tubs, but I have heard good things about them. I don't recall where right now~ but I think I heard somewhere that Sams Club is selling a tub similiar to the Iris tubs, but they are selling them in a 3 pack for $18, which is less expensive. ~I wouldn't swear to any of this! I'm sure I heard it somewhere, but I don't recall where and if it was a good source! But it may be worth checking out.

Seeing as we are nieghbors, what do you keep? I keep corn snakes and ball pythons. Oh~ and a mess of rats and mice!!

Howdy neighbor!

I have the following:

1.1 Brazilian Rainbow Boa
0.1 Red Tail Boa (common)
1.1 Amel Corn
1.0 Cal King (abberant)
0.1 Eastern Black King

Got some lizards and a frog too. Don't keep mice (unless you count frozen). Started keeping crickets and am very happy with how that's going so far.

The boas are my favorites. I'll be at several shows this summer/fall looking for new additions.

Iris boxes are excellent. They have reinforced bottoms that slide very well in rack systems.

Their CB-110 box is about 39" x 20" x 6" but is the only box of theirs I've seen with "feet" on the bottom. These feet don't always work well in racks but the CB110 is still so well constructed that I think even that one would work fine.

Go to reptiletubs.com for a selection of Iris boxes.
