Is it possible to house a young spinytailed iguana with a young green iguana?
I've known a few people to house them together as juveniles. In one case, I know that the spiny tail killed the other ig. I don't recommend housing them together. Most iguanas do not do well being housed together. However, there have been situations when iguanas have been housed together successfully for their whole life span. It is a matter of opinion more than anything I guess. You will want to watch them very closely if you do house them together. Watch for signs of stress and dominance. Dominance does not have to be assertive (fighting/biting/whipping) it can be a body gesture or a certain look. Dominance can also come out throught the use of food, water, and basking spots. The dominant iguana may not permit to the other ig or igs (less dominant) to get enough of what they need (water/food/basking). The less dominant ig or igs may start acting differently. You'll see a decline in eating and definite lethargy. You may see colors change on the ig itself and it would probably start to lose weight. If any of this starts to happen you will want to seperate them ASAP. No ifs ands or buts about it. Just some signs to check for if you do decide to house them together. Again, I just want to reiterate that I do no recommend housing them together. Hope this kind of helps
Luck in your endeavors...
