ADF - Odd Mating Behavior!! Hellppp

payley Jan 15, 2004 09:15 PM

I'm really concerned about my female ADF. I introduced her to my tank three days ago and it seems like my male ADF has been latched on to her back ever since. I can tell it's uncomfortable for her because she floats at the top so she can breathe. Is it normal for him to hold on for so long?? What can I do if it's not? Should I just put them in different tanks??

This is normal and they should separate soon. If they do not seperate within 24 hours and no eggs are produced you should separate the two into different tanks.

It's been two more days and they still haven't separated. I've tried to separate them but he just grabs on and squeezes her tighter so I'm worried she's getting hurt...
