Need help with pacman

holy Jan 15, 2004 09:28 PM

Yea, this might sound something not to really worry about but I'm a first time owner of a frog so that's an excuse.
Anyway, I bought my pacman on 01/02/2004 and she was just more than an inch and really thin but now, she's more than 2 inches and really round. I feed her 1-2 insects everyday.
What I am worried about is that it's only been 2 weeks and she's grown an inch. That's really fast growing. I only feed her crickets and meal worm and a guppy but that's just one time. Should I stop feeding her everyday and instead only feed her 2x-3x per week? Is there a way to stun her growth?

No pacmans do grow pretty quick.......THEY LOVE TO EAT!!!!
Anything they can fit in that mouth, (and you would be supprized)
Thsy will!!
Pinky mice really get them growing fast, but not to offten at first
Some feed them feeder gold fish, but allot of those can be sickly
BUT NO.....He will grow....LOTS
good luck

How long do you think it will take for her to reach her full size? So, I just let her do her thing then?

Depening on the sex, it can take a year to a year and a half for the frog to attain its maximum breeding potential size. I would cut back to about every 3 days or so. Yes, they do grow fast, but feeding them too much and causing too large of a growth rate can be detrimental to the frog's health. Stay away from pinky mice. They are little more than fat, and don't even have really any calcium to them as their bones havn't solidified. Try nightcrawlers...the frogs love them and they are better than mice/fish. Andy

So you're saying to feed my frog twice a week?
I don't feed her pinkies or any fatty foods. I only feed her crickets and meal worms.

Normally every other day is pretty good for young frogs. Everyday can sometimes overload them a bit. But you should still get a quite optimal growth rate out of the frog even if you feed less. Andy
