Misting properly during shed....

lizzard305 Jan 16, 2004 12:15 AM

When misting a snake through its shed i was wondering if you can mist to much, i know not to drown the snake in a poodle but im talking a good 2 sprays close to the snake and a good 6 around the cage, i know humidity can cause bacteria growth but i was wondering if you can over mist? thnx

i mist 3 to 4 times a day and this seems to work out fairly well. its not perfect but untill i get my rack system built my three girls are going to have to be kept in the fish tanks that there in . as for bacteria you can always change the cage substraight and clean/disenfect after the shed thats what i do. also when i mist i make sure that the humidity gets right up there around 80-85 percent before i stop .ihavent counted but i would guess that to be around 10-12 squirts with a good spray bottle.good luck.

also i forgot to say that you could buy a warm air humidifier at walmart i dodnt have one but have been told that they work pretty well and also ive seen them hooked right up with a tube right into the top of the tank. pretty neat idea i think it was on the cage forum
