MTS / PTS and minimum temps

clp Jan 16, 2004 07:22 AM

I have read about the average high / low temps they require but i do find that mine will sometimes hang out at the bottom of the cage and i know that temp is below the temp ranges i read about. the bottom of the cage may is in the low 60's but i find them sometime hanging out in that rage for several hours at a time...... I cant wait for spring....... It is much warmer higher in the cage with several basking sites providing correct temps......

Any feedback or ideas?

I currenttly use a space heater plugged into a timer outlit device, that turns on every three hours for about 20 minutes at floor level pointed towards a few of my enclosures which puts the bottom of the enclosures temps in the mid 70's.
Winter time always throws that extra challange of keeping enclosures at the right temps for me and I am sure other people too, ecspecially when you have a large enclosure(s) that sits on the floor.
You can buy a space heater rather inexpensively at most department stores!!!!!!!!!!!!
Good Luck

I use this method too, with the heater on low 24/7, and it seems to be working really well in a very drafty house.
