recommend me a new sort of Lizard !!

Hi All.

New to this forum so hi to start with, But not new to lizards.

I have got a Trio of Collared lizards which i built their customer made enclosure myself and they are all doing very well indeed and will possibly breed this spring.

My question is regarding water dragons and basilisks, I am wanting to get another sort of lizard, different to my desert collared and these seem to the ones i am likely to choose.

I can easily supply them with the space and conditions they need but i am confussed about the ability to tame them, or not as the case maybe.
I will want to be able to handle them without getting them stressed but have read that basilisks are not great at being tammed down, So would water dragons be my better option ?????

I do prefer the look of basilisks but if they are realistically gonna bite me every time i go near them i will go for the dragons, Your opinions please chaps and chapesses.

Funky,

Water dragons are very easily tamed, they don't usually bite even if they aren't tame, they just try to get away. Basilisks are more nervous and flighty, and more likely to be aggressive. After a few months they do settle down, and may be ok with occasional handling but not to the extent of a waterdragon.

zimbo Jan 16, 2004 12:54 PM

i have two water dragons, one of them is the sweetest little guy, and the other is a bit of a jerk. even though houdini is cocky, hes only bitten me once, and ive only been tail whipped a couple of times. hes only ever attacked when he was sick or over stressed though, and hes not really mean. i guess what im saying is dragons have very distinct personalities, so anything is possible. even though hes mean, he is quite tame, and so is zimbo. dragons are alot of work, but even more fun.
