Cricket Cage

what Jun 05, 2003 08:30 PM

What is the smallest size of cricket cage I would need to keep 1 thousand crickets at a time. I have only a small space left for them. So the smaller the better. I have to get 1 thousand at a time no question of that. I have been just buying 100 at a time but it gets to expensive.

If it were me I would say a ten gallon tank and then you are gonna have a miserable time getting them in and out without tons escaping.

Then what would you recommend? I have a similiar problem, I need to start buying by the 1,000 but I am not sure what container to keep them in. I was thinking a deep plastic sterlite tub.

i no longer keep lizards, but, i have some suggestions that would work well.

one option are rubbermaids and sterilites, tho if youve only got a small amount of space this could be a problem, for 1000 crickets id say something 24inches or longer, and something 12inches high, you might still lose alot of crickets, but option number 2 is even better...

a rubbermaid or sterilite trashcan, even a great big one wont take up much floor space, and you can fit all those little things in there no problem, also less chance of escape when you add crickets or go in to get crickets, hope this helps

I've got 1000 in a ten gallon, and i'm not having any trouble. I have tubes in there. When i need some crickets, i lower a bag into the cage, pick up a tube, shake it into the bag, and then close the bag and put the tube back. Just make sure you do this IN the cage, not OVER the cage because they can get out. I haven't had more than 1 or 2 excapes.
