Clutch Number 2

zrho Jan 16, 2004 10:51 AM

After 5 days of digging false nests, Daisy laid a clutch of 7 perfect white, well calcified eggs and one slug, yesterday afternoon.

With better attention to detail this time around, and being well aware of my mistakes with the first clutch; nest box had standing water in the bottom, and incubation substrate was too moist.

I have the eggs in a food container with about an inch of just moist vermiculite, holes are poked in the side of the container, the top is on, but not secured

The egg container sits in a covered sweaterbox, on top of my dragon enclosure. Temps have kept steady between 70 and 73 degrees Farrenheit.

Any glaring omissions or suggestions are most welcome.

Given the history of others, I hope to keep Daisy in top health in the event of a possible third clutch in late March.

I didn't see anything you may have missed in your setup so I would say it's a go for incubation!

I took a series of pics the other day showing my clutches of eggs ranging from Sept 22 through the last one on Jan 13, 2004. I have some pics candling one from each clutch and several of the oldest ones so I can share what to look for. With all the new and soon to be laid eggs I will try to get it up this afternoon or tomorrow at the latest.

Good luck with this clutch!

Thanks Marcia. I have a good deal of questions that I may be throwing out to you if you don't mind.

Here is a shot of Daisy's latest effort:
