It almost looks melanistic or whatever they call the totally black ones. Neat.

That's what I thought too. His dark cross bars are so thick they almost cover his entire back. Here's another al I ran across on VAFB. They are just coming out of hibernation so they look pretty thin when I find them, but they puff themselves up for their pictures
