I feed mine cooked chicken and turkey supplemented with RepCal (phos. free) and Herptivite (1/2 tablespoon per pound of meat). I make the mixture into little meatballs and then freeze. When feeding time comes along, I thaw, flatten into a pancake and microwave for around 22 seconds until it's cooked through then cut into strips. I think cooking it is safer with regards to nasties like salmonella and e. coli. I give them this in conjunction with f/t mice and superworms. On a side note, my big male tegu has been raised on the turkey mixture (along with rats and fruit) and eats it raw. My Waters will not eat it raw and actually PREFER it cooked. Go figure. Billy

thank you BILLY im glad you replied it helped me out a bunch i think im going to give it a try,one more question what about chiken gizards and hearts,i also have ground turkey?
Try and use the leanest ground turkey you can find and gizzards and hearts should be fine as long as they are cooked. I would just strongly suggest that if you are going to use any of these meats as more than just a treat, supplement them with a good quality vitamin/mineral powder. Whole foods like rodents, chicks and insects are still best

Also try prawns, shrimp, and potatos.
I have not tried the potatos but will this weekend.

if the insect and mice food items are not cooked, then why is the other things cooked? In Kazakhstan, many people are always eating raw goat and gaining strength. In nature, varanus are always eating dead things, especially yours V.salvator. Cooking meat for raw meat eaters is very confusing. Can you explain?
thank you all,
Yuri Voorhak
I feed them cooked, supplemented GROUND chicken and turkey and the supplements are added at a 1/2 tablespoon of EACH per pound of ground meat and then mixed thoroughly. I give this to my Waters 2-3x per week with mice and superworms 4-5x per week. I offer food every day. Billy
